Subject: NSPE Support for Ed Turner’s Legal Fight

WHEREAS, Ed Turner acted ethically and professionally in discharging his duties in conformance with the Idaho State Engineering Licensure Law.

WHEREAS, Ed Turner acted in accordance with the dictates of his conscience disregarding the severe consequences to his personal interest.

WHEREAS, Ed Turner is an NSPE member in good standing.

WHEREAS, the issue of responsible charge is at the heart of the Ed Turner litigation case.

WHEREAS, the issue of responsible charge is critical to the legal and ethical practice of engineering.

WHEREAS, Ed Turner has demonstrated extraordinary courage, dedication and perseverance in defending the interests of all engineers and safeguarding the public interest.

WHEREAS, Ed Turner has exhausted all personal assets to contribute to his legal fight.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED; that the NYSSPE Board of Directors submit a resolution to the Board of Directors of NSPE to provide assistance to Ed Turner, PE. In order for this assistance to be effective NSPE shall take the following actions in support of Ed Turner’s litigation:

1. Publicize case in Engineering Times

2. Publish Ed Turner’s Litigation Assistance Fund address in Engineering Times and encourage members to contribute to it.

3. Coordinate joint actions with other engineering societies such as ASCE, AAES, and AEA.

4. Issue press releases to inform the public.

5. Get Turner story in the national news media.
