ENGINEER DEMOTED IN CITY JOB HONORED BY NATIONAL ALLIANCE
Dateline: IDAHO FALLS - Former City Engineer Ed Turner has been chosen by the American Engineering Alliance to receive the Vanguard Award.
Fellow engineers regard him as a hero for taking on City Hall and defending what they regard as their sacred calling to protect public health and safety against poor engineering.
After Wednesday's award ceremonies in New York City, the Engineering News Record will honor Turner as one of a half-dozen finalists for its Award of Excellence.
Turner 60, resigned in July 1996 after 27 years with the city when he was demoted from city engineer to design engineer.
A subsequent $100,000 lawsuit against the city of Idaho Falls for wrongful termination was dismissed by Bonneville County District Court last September
Turner now has sued his former attorney, John Ohman, alleging the Idaho Falls lawyer did not file court affidavits in a proper and timely manner in his earlier case.
